Kid's Classes

  • We want to foster an appreciation for art in all of our students. Children are especially adept at art and it is an appreciation that can stay with them into adulthood. More than that, it's FUN!
  • Art Camp!!!

For children ages 7 and up is here for the summer break! There are 6 weeks of classes so you can choose which weeks suit your summer plans best. The camps are 5 days long and are held from 10am-1pm Monday through Friday.

We will be working in acrylics, watercolors and more. All materials are provided for your camper. Bring a bagged lunch or snack. Camp tuition is $195.

Our summer camp schedule is already up on our calendar. Just hit the following month at the top right of the calendar to move forward to the dates you want to attend to register

Spaces are limited so it is best to reserve your child's place as soon as possible.
  • One Time Classes!

Most Saturdays from 11am to 12pm, we have open painting sessions for children at $25 per child. Student's choice from one of our children's painting. There are a limited number of seats and appointments are set ahead of time by registering via our calenda.
  • Your child simply chooses one of our pieces they want to duplicate. The instructor will provide the paints for that painting, show the student where to start and guide them through the completion of the work.
  • Ongoing education classes are also available for children. These classes will last for the duration of Fall semester or Spring semester. Classes are held once a week for two hours. Dues are $130 per month. After school classes are offered on Wednesday and Thursday and from 4 - 5:30 or 6pm. Not every student can arrive at exactly 4 o'clock, which is why the class can last until 6. Tuition includes all supplies and 4 classes a month (sometimes there is an extra week on the calendar. This is considered a bonus class and can be missed by the student or instructor). Adult classes start at 6:30 so it is important to pick up your artist in a timely manner.
  • There are only 7 spots available in each class so that we may provide the individual attention and instruction your child deserves. Sign up early to secure a spot on the day that is most convenient for you.
  • BIRTHDAY PARTIES FOR CHILDREN! Children especially enjoy birthday parties at Paint + Canvas. We provide the gift and snack table and the birthday kiddo's choice of painting, the supplies and instruction. Parties for kid's are typically during the day on weekends. The event lasts 2 hours, including a break for snacks or cake that you can bring for the party. The cost is $350 for up to 10 children. Additional painters can be added for $20 each.
  • What age should my child be to take the classes?

Ages vary, 6 thru 14, although there is the occasional 5 year old who loves to paint! The only requirement being that your child has the attention span and desire to sit and paint for duration of the class. Small breaks can be taken, of course, but as there can be multiple children in each class, the instructor must be able to spend time instructing each child, not attend to only one.
  • Who is teaching these classes?

Amy Wilson-Reilly, the owner of Paint + Canvas. She holds
a Bachelor of Science in Spanish and Education from MTSU, with
a minor in Art. Mrs. Reilly began taking art at the age of 7 from
Jan Roblin of Florence, Alabama (a wonderful art instructor for
over 30 years). Amy continued lessons with Jan until she moved
to Nashville in 1988 where she continued studying art with John
P Ashworth IV in the Vocational Program at Overton High School.
She was accepted to, and attended, the Summer Art Program at
Pratt Institute of Art and Architecture in 1990. Several respected
art institutes offered scholarships to Amy and a full Presidential
Scholarship to Austin Peay State University was awarded to
her upon high school graduation with the assistance of her art
portfolio. These days, Mrs. Reilly paints or draws every day in her
own studio and profoundly enjoys teaching art, a career in which
her life and education have trained her to excel.
